Weighted Sum Metrics – Based Load Balancing RPL Objective Function for IoT

The technological development of Internet Things (IoT) applications is emerging and attracting the attention real world in automated industry, agriculture, environment, scientific community. In most scenarios, extending network lifetime an IoT highly challenging because constrained nodes. wireless sensor (WSN) core component applications. addition, WSN nodes are required for processes, particularly routing, energy maintenance, load balance, congestion control, packet delivery, quick response, more. failure any above processes will affect entire operation. IPv6 Routing Protocol Low-power Lossy (RPL) provides high routing solutions to requirements. traffic load, bottleneck problems still open issues RPL. To resolve balance issue, we propose a weighted sum method objective function (WSM-OF), which ability select alternative parent by RPL metrics. WSM-OF adopts control balancing avoid heavy extend network's node lifetime. parameters overhead, jitter, delivery ratio, switching, consumption, latency, implemented analyzed through COOJA simulator. result shows that improves performance significantly enhances up 7.8%.
